Seniors hoping to preserve or improve their memory might will want to get into a regular routine of exercise. Activities like Yolf, that get their participants on their feet and moving around, can improve memory and brain health in as little as six weeks.
A study performed by the Center for BrainHealth at the University of Texas -Dallas studied an otherwise healthy group of sedentary adults, ages 57 to 75. Half the group exercised for one hour, three days a week for 12 weeks.
After six weeks a preliminary evaluation showed improved blood flow to the parts of the brain critical to memory and attention – even while at rest. After 12 weeks, the participants memory had improved.
What makes activities like Yolf special, in the context of senior health, is that it provides the added benefit of FUN. Treadmills and exercise bikes can be so boring… Yolf, on the other hand, is an activity that keeps EVERYONE engaged and coming back for more!
